DNA from three parents to overcome genetic diseases

10/22/2017 /// News

In 2016, the three-parent technique, or pronuclear transfer, enabled the birth of a baby with genetic material from three people, (two mothers and a father) free from Leigh syndrome found in the biological mother’s genes. The baby has DNA from the father and mother, as well as a small portion of genetic material from a female donor which has enabled the child to be born without inheriting the genetic disease.
Albert Obradors explained the case on TV3, on the programme “8 al día” on 8TV and on Telemadrid.
